One of the benefits of studying at ACEP is that students have opportunities to meet experts from a variety of professional fields.
On Friday, February 18, Year 10 and 11 students from the Health Science track met with a doctor and a medical student from Ramathibodi Hospital.
Professor Nongnuch Sirachainan MD, Prof of Pediatrics, Hematology / Oncology Division, Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, talked to the students about the importance of soft skills. While hard skills are extremely important for medical professionals, it is crucial that they have also developed their soft skills in order to be successful in their field. Professor Nongnuch Sirachainan MD encourages the students to start working on enhancing their soft skills now, even before entering a medical school.
A year 5 medical student, Mr Tanatuch Tiratrakoonseree, talked to our students about what it is like to be a student at one of the top medical schools in the country. Mr Tanatuch Tiratrakoonseree spoke to ACEP students about how to prepare for entrance examinations and interviews, as well as the daily life of medical students. Reiterating what Professor Nongnuch Sirachainan MD said, he emphasized the fact that while hard skills are essential to succeed in their entrance examinations, students should also be able to illustrate strong soft skills along with volunteering experience.
The presentations by the guests were followed by an informative Q&A session.
We would once again like to thank Professor Nongnuch Sirachainan MD and Mr Tanatuch Tiratrakoonseree for speaking to our students and providing them with valuable information about the skills they need to develop in order to enter medical school and become a successful medical professional.
Special thank you to Ms Ketsuda Kempka, Registered Nurse, Hematology / Oncology Division, Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University for coordinating the event.
We hope that in the future, once Covid-19 restrictions are lifted, our students can visit Ramathibodi Hospital, meet our guests in person, and experience the reality of what it is like to be a medical student.
