Year 10 Researching With Jigsaw Learning

Assumption College English Program year 10 chemistry students need to learn about the different types of intermolecular bonds. As a forward thinking science department we try to provide a wide array of learning activities to help engage all our students whatever their ability. This activity consists of students having a home group”” in which they will come together and teach each other what they have researched in different “”expert groups””. The students used iPads to research their given topic. The success of this style of learning is heavily dependent on the knowledge that students need to teach what they are learning. This changes the way they mentally organise and integrate the information they are exposed to. It is also a fun way for the students to work collaboratively and they always seem to enjoy this sort of task. It is also fun for the teachers to see students interact in a new and novel way.
