Year 8 Paperless Reading
June 8, 2018
Reading classes are going high-tech with Mr. Andrei. Year 8 students have been reading Macmillan Readers editions of classic, exciting titles such as Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Rather than use traditional paperbacks, students read the book in electronic form, and complete quizzes and exercises on Schoology, ACEP’s learning management system.
Electronic reading has many advantages over paper. Students can read the text on any device, including the ubiquitous smartphone. They can search for key words and phrases in the text, and look up definitions online. The side-by-side view on the new iMacs is perfect for reading while answering comprehension questions. Best of all, no trees suffer due to students’ love of reading. It’s no wonder electronic reading is the way of the future!
