Year 6 Maths Projects
January 24, 2019
This year, students in Year 6 have been using project-based learning to further their knowledge and skills. The first project on area and perimeter had students design their dream home and garden. Students had to incorporate various shapes before calculating the area and perimeter of each.
Students also used information about sporting events to create pie charts. This allowed them to use skills learned from Year 6 and previous years to calculate fractions, decimals and percentages while recognising the links between each of these. With this information, students then constructed pie charts to represent the data.
These were fun activities that allowed students to express their individuality and creativity, while applying maths to real life situations.
