Year 11 Light Lab
Thursday, September 28, 2017
The year 11 students at Assumption College English Program studied phenomena associated with light in their recent laboratory session. The examined the additive colour spectrum by producing complementary colours from the primary additive colours. The students also studied the diffraction of light. First an example diffraction pattern was obtained by shining laser light through small apertures. The final activity used a diffraction grating to produce constructive and destructive interference fringes from laser light shining through a diffraction grating. By analysing the diffraction pattern, the spacing between the slits in the grating was determined.
