Year 11 Biology – Natural Selection
September 20, 2019
This week at Assumption College English Programme, the Year 11 students have been studying Natural Selection in their Biology classes with Mr Ash. To gain a more in depth understanding of how this process shapes a population, Mr Ash got the students to play a game where they “competed” with each other for food, using different tools to simulate various traits.
They found that for different situations, a different tool or trait was the best-adapted, so that were able to collect more food in the game. This simulated Natural Selection very well and allowed the students really see how variation in a population allows it adapt to different selection pressure in their environment.
