Year 10 Conic Sections – Equation of a Circle
Friday, October 9, 2020
This week at Assumption College English Program year 10 students further enhanced their understanding of Conic sections through relational and instrumental learning. Initially, students studied the basics of graphing circles by highlighting its radius and center. In the succeeding lessons students used these basic concepts to counter more laborious tasks such as finding the equation of a tangent to a circle and proving if a tangent exists.
In order to undertake Conic sections students require a line of prerequisite knowledge and skills. Students have now started to apply their mathematical knowledge of last term in order to access conic sections. Students can now look forward to contrasting their knowledge of circles with ellipses and hyperbolas. Exciting times ahead indeed!
