Year 1 Family Day: Welcome Year 1 Students and Parents into the ACEP Family!
Friday, June 14, 2019
We held our annual Family Day for our new Year 1 students and families at Assumption College English Program on Friday, June 14th. Family Day is a fun way to officially welcome our new students and parents into the ACEP family.
The main aim of this event is to build a strong relationship between students, parents and teachers. We know that starting at a new school can be a stressful time for both students and parents, so we aim to give parents every opportunity to spend time with the teachers and other parents. It was a great chance for parents to speak to teachers about their child in a relaxed setting, and to make friendships with other parents.
The event started with the Brothers, teachers and PTA members tying white string on the student’ wrists to officially welcome them to ACEP and wish them luck and happiness. Next we had some ice breakers and get to know you activities designed to introduce parents to other parents and children. It was wonderful to see the big smiles on the children’s faces as they watched the mothers and fathers getting involved!
Next, each class got to spend time together doing three activities – decorating delicious brownies, designing and decorating their own bag and working together to see who can build the biggest tower. As we worked, there was time to chat and get to know everyone else. The teachers really enjoyed getting this chance to work so closely with the families in their class. It was also great to see students getting to spend time with their parents in a school setting like this too.
Overall, the day was a huge success and we look forward to our teachers and parents continuing to work so closely throughout the coming year.
