The Blessing of the Christmas Crib and Switching on of the Christmas Lights
Tuesday, December 12, 2017
Over the past few weeks, ACEP teachers and campus staff have worked hard to transform the school in preparation for Christmas. As well as the huge Christmas tree and nativity scene in the courtyard, many of the classrooms have been decorated. It’s a special time of year and everyone has come together to make the school look great!
On the morning of 12th December 2017, ACEP held its ‘Blessing of the Crib and Switching on of the Christmas Lights’ ceremony in which teachers, students, local priests and many parents were in attendance. The ceremony, led by Father Thananchai Kitsamak and Father Wuttikrai Chinnalai from St. Anna’s Catholic Church, opened in style with the ACEP Harmony choir giving us their renditions of ‘O Christmas Tree’ and ‘Joy to the World’. There was a long procession with local priests, teachers, students, parents and of course, the Brothers.
A presentation highlighting Christmas celebrations from around the world really inspired the students who were awe-struck at the size of the trees on display and the firework shows from countries such as Sweden, Brazil and Mexico. This was followed by a performance from some dancing angels from lower primary which really emphasised the spirit of Christmas.
Then the moment we were all waiting for… Santa! And not only 1, but lots of Santa’s appeared to hand out sweets and gifts to children who were really excited to be a part of the whole ceremony.
Once finished, a wonderful nativity play performed by the Drama club finished off what was a lovely morning full of joy, happiness and most importantly – the spirit of Christmas!
We hope to see you all for the ACEP Christmas Fair on Thursday 21st December 2017.
Have a wonderful Christmas and a very happy New Year!
