Students Get a Taste of University Life at Mahidol
Friday, November 2, 2018
This week at Assumption College English program, students from years 10, 11 and 12 took the opportunity to attend the latest Open House at Mahidol International University campus (MUIC).
One of the first things to strike students was the range of activities and demonstrations for students to engage in, enabling them to get a genuine taste of potential student life at MUIC. Course programs from Business Administration, Media and Communication, to Intercultural studies and Science, swung open their doors to allow students with an interest to make inquiries and have their questions answered by current lecturers and students.
Of particular interest were the “Mock-Up Class” sessions that ran from 10am until close at 2.30pm with actual demonstration lectures such as an introduction to Cryptoeconomics by Dr. Aman Saggu and “What Do Diplomats Do?” by Dr. Nigel Gould-Davies on the International Relations and Global Affairs program.
A final key highlight from the Open House, which many students must have found highly useful if with a small sense of trepidation, were the mock admissions interviews run by current program lecturers who gave direct feedback to students on how to improve for the real thing. Students left the event feeling energized and informed, no doubt some will return again only this time as undergrads.
