Settling into Year 1
Thursday, April 4, 2019
“Our Year 1 students are settling in really well here at Assumption College English Program. All of the students are working well in class, making new friends and getting to know their new teachers.
Summer school is an important time in Year 1 as it is a chance for the students to learn about their new rules and routines. They are learning simple rules now such as sitting and listening quietly, raising their hand if they want to contribute to discussions and working together with their new friends. This means the students will be ready to hit the ground running when we start Term 1 in May.
The students are learning all about animals and the teachers have been very impressed with their vocabulary and level of English. Each class has made lots of beautiful animal crafts based on zoo animals, pets and sea animals. All of the classrooms are so colorful with displays of jellyfish, sharks, cats, dogs and even giraffes!
We are so excited to work with our new students and we know it is going to be a fantastic year!
