Secondary Clubs – 3D Modeling and Printing Club
July 13, 2018
Secondary clubs give students an opportunity to learn new skills and have fun in a less structured environment. The 3D Modeling and Printing Club is one of the most popular clubs this term, with a full roster of 24 students.
In this club, students use Autodesk Fusion 360 and Google SketchUp to explore 3D modeling. Mr. Andrei Androsoff, Secondary Computing teacher, assists them in “slicing” and printing their creations on one of ACEP’s 3D printers. Some students are so hooked that they visit the iMac Lab during lunchtime to work on their designs!
3D modeling and printing are skills that give students a taste of product design, engineering, digital fabrication, problem solving and spatial skills. It’s time well-spent — and a lot of fun, too.
