Biology Field Trip – Day 3
January 22, 2020
On the final day of the trip, we said our goodbyes to the staff that took care of us and set off to a natural spring just outside the National Park. When we arrived, the students carried out a survey of the human impact on the ecosystem. They assessed how tourists, food vendors and other shops affected different species in the area by increasing food availability, pollution, and habitat destruction.
The goal was then to develop a small plan on how the area could be managed to minimise this impact while still allowing tourism and local businesses to flourish. After all this hard work, the students went for a swim in the crystal clear water from the natural spring – a great activity to end our brilliant field trip.
The students had a great time this week and they were excellent representatives for ACEP.
