Beginning the Year in Lower School Mathematics
May 18, 2018
In the first week of lower school Mathematics classes, students have undertaken some ice-breaker activities as well as some diagnostic testing, which helps teachers create work suitable for the abilities of students.
In Years 7 and 9, students got to meet their teachers and each other by completing a tower building challenge in small groups. The relative strengths of students can be seen by the fact that a few groups built towers of over one metre, using nothing but modelling clay and wooken sticks.
It has been an enjoyable beginning to the year. I’m sure the rest of the year will be just as enjoyable.
