Assembly Time in Year 1
Friday, September 18, 2020
This week we had our first Year 1 assembly for Test period 2. Year level assemblies give our teachers and students a chance to meet and discuss some important news for Year 1 as well as to give out rewards for achievements to classes and individual students.
This week Year 1 students we celebrated for their use of English in and outside of the classroom as well as their excellent behaviour during last week’s Test days. Students were also informed of some rules to follow while playing on the newly reopened playground and were reminded to wear their masks at all times.
During each assembly two students from each class are rewarded with a merit award for their excellent effort during the previous week. These merit awards are a way to acknowledge the students’ hard work in any area such as their behaviour, learning improvements, good manners, kindness, etc. Classes also have the opportunity to win a shield for the whole class. This week 1/1 won the Best line shield while 1/2 received the Clean classroom shield.
We ended our assembly this week with a fun and quick game of Bingo to reinforce ordinal numbers that our students have been learning this past week during their Maths lessons.
Congratulations to the students that earned merit awards and each class for their shield wins during this most recent assembly. Your teachers are very proud of you, keep up the good work.
